Norway Elementary is fortunate to be on a K-12 campus. One advantage of the many perks is our 6th grade reading buddies who come down from middle school to read with us three times per week. This program was developed through the teacher collaboration of Mrs. DeLong 6th grade reading teacher and the first grade teachers. This program has been successful for the last three years. The middle school students have to strive to reach reading goals in their course work in order to participate in the reading program as well as be responsible, respectful and helpful. My first graders love to show what they know and allows us the much needed practice we require to become better readers. It is an overall self esteem building activity for all students involved. WE often have many volunteers to read when the big kids come down!
